Model objects and links

Give operational records stable identities, typed properties, and meaningful relationships.

What the model contains

An object type describes a kind of thing your team works with. A property describes a value on that thing. A link type describes a relationship between two object types. Factivum uses these definitions to present records consistently across search, views, and actions.

A matching label does not prove two source rows identify the same real-world object. Review the key and source mapping before merging records or allowing an action to write through the model.

Build in a workspace

  1. Open Object Model and select an existing type before creating another one.
  2. Define the stable identifier and the properties operators need to recognize a record.
  3. Add links only when the relationship can be supported by source data or an explicit rule.
  4. Inspect example objects in Object Explorer. Correct a mapping before exposing it as an operational result.

Govern changes

  • Model edits may affect search, applications, and actions that depend on a type. Inspect usage before changing a shared definition.
  • Your workspace role determines whether you can edit definitions. Read access to objects does not imply permission to change the model.
